We use more and less to describe the quantity of something in our daily life. Our word of this week is 少- shǎo “ less”; shào “young”.

少 is  pronounced shǎo or shào .

The word “less” in Oracle is based on the three dots of the word “small”, plus one point (referring to the thing symbol) to indicate a guardian. Its original meaning is small quantity. The word shǎo means less quantity, which is opposite to “more”; the word shào means young, which is opposite to “old”.

积少成多(jī shǎo chénɡ duō)
