Mangzhong- A Season of Sowing and Reaping
Mangzhong (Grain in Ear) is the ninth solar term of the year which falls around June 5 every year. Mangzhong in Chinese means that the wheat with awns are ready to harvest, and the rice with awns are to be planted.

The Rainy Season
Mangzhong marks a time of plenty of heavy rain and rising temperature, when the “plum rain season 梅雨(méiyǔ)” arrives in the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. It is a good time to cultivate rice and other grains.

Physical health tips: As it is getting hotter and brighter in summer, it is easy to experience fatigue, which can be relieved by a nap after lunch. It is believed that the best food to eat during the “Grain in Ear” period, is mulberry. It has abundant glucose, Vitamin A, B and C and many mineral substances.
